Getting a learners permit
You need to obtain a learners permit from the Department of Transport before you can learn how to ride a motorcycle. There is a motorcycle theory test, an eyesight test and you may be required to undergo a medical examination or provide a medical clearance under some circumstances. More information on obtaining a learners permit is available here.
If you currently have an R-E licence, you are allowed to learn how to ride an R class bike, however you are unable to do a practical assessment until you have held an R-E licence for 2 years.
Learning to ride
Once you have your learners permit, you can learn how to ride. You can either use a professional instructor or someone who has held that class of motorbike licence for 4 years( 2 years if it is a scooter)
Albany Motorcycle Training provides 1 on 1 training for all classes of motorbike licences, we like to ensure that our clients are not only going to pass their test but they will be safe on the road. Motorcycles and safety equipment can be provided. AMT has the ability to bring a motorcycle to you. You don’t have to come to AMT, I can come to you. We provide coverage for the Lower Great Southern Area.
